Kids, have fun at Kings Beach Water Fountain Fun Park,  Sunshine Coast

Less than 10 mins walk from Sea Point along the boardwalk.

The kids will have the best fun under the sun running through the water fountain, the central showpiece in Kings Beach right at the beach entrance, near the pool & the Surf Club. Across the road there’s a fantastic playground for the kids too! There’s parking, shopping, dining, & the Kings Beach Ampitheatre where large outdoor events are held, is only a few minutes across the road as well. Kings Beach is  well known for it’s lovely lawns & picnic areas right along the beachfront so it’s easy to spend a day here & never get bored for a minute! The Kings Beach Tavern is also located just above the Amphitheatre so even if you never stepped a foot out of Kings Beach, you’d still enjoy a wonderful holiday! At Christmas there’s more activities set up for the kids next to the Water Park with bungee trampolining & other cool stuff & there’s even Kings Beach markets during the Christmas season! Kings Beach is definitely the family fun spot of Caloundra!

This great pool is located on the rocks at the northern end of Kings Beach, below the surf lifesaving clubhouse. Entry is free. There is a 25 metre seawater lap pool, a children’s swimming pool, wading area, beach-style entry & disabled access. Pool supervision times:

Rumour has it one local lady has breakfast at a different beach every day! It’s that sort of place. Kings Beach is closest to Sea Point with a fantastic family beach for swimming, boogie boarding & heaps of fun. Go for a dip in the salt water pool right next to the beach or chase the kids through the water fountain! Moffat Beach is a alfresco dining hub in Caloundra. When you want a beach to yourself take a refreshing walk along Shelly Beach. With a playground & skate park Dicky Beach is also excellent for swimming, surfing & fishing. Bulcock Beach is right in the heart of the CBD action & Golden Beach is calm, quiet & great for swimming, boating & fishing.

Are you game? Are you an adventurer, ready for anything? Do you want to feel what it’s like to fly & see why the birds sing? Are you going to feel the fear of jumping out of a perfectly good plane – & do it anyway? Caloundra is one of the few places you can skydive & land on the beach. You’ll land on Bulcock Beach, Currimundi Beach or Moffat Beach - depending on the wind conditions. Very few Drop Zones have the luxury of a beach landing. Tandem Skydiving is very popular with visitors of all ages, backpackers & locals. As the 1000’s who took the big step will testify, the aerial views of the Sunshine Coast are hard to match anywhere in the world! From Caloundra Airport, Beach jumps are available 7 days a week in Caloundra from 12,000 or 14,000ft. You get 45 or 60 seconds of freefall from 12,000 or 14,000ft. TIP: The extra 2,000ft when jumping from 14,000ft will give you more time to see what the free fall is about—ONE full minute of freefall!!! Go skate at Caloundra Rollerdrome,  Sunshine Coast

Just past the Caloundra Visitor Information Centre you’ll find the Caloundra Rollerdrome, the only one on the Sunshine Coast. It’s a whole lotta rollin’! If your family haven’t been rollerskating before, this is a great place to take the kids for something a bit different & the adults will enjoy it just as much! It’s all indoors so it makes the Rollerdrome a very good choice for a wet weather day. They also cater for birthday parties, private functions, school sports groups & fundraising events. Corporate groups & even trade shows are welcome!

Caloundra Blue Light Discos/Dance Parties are also held here on the last Friday night of the month for 7—16 year olds from 7pm to 10pm. All discos are safe, & the kids can dance to their favourite music—fully supervised by police & volunteers. No smoking, drugs or alcohol. No pass-outs.

Climb up inside the big pineapple, tour the farm aboard plantation trains & nutmobiles & visit the Australian wildlife reserve, gift shop & eateries. Experience the taste of Queensland & indulge in decadent parfaits or sundaes. In the carpark on Saturday morning there’s a Grower’s Market & on Sunday it transforms into a Motor Market. In June the ‘Ride for Daniel’ starts here with over 5000 motorbikes. A large function venue is also available.

Enjoy a walk through the natural beauty of Kondalilla National Park near Montville & take a dip in the stunning rock pools at Kondalilla Falls. Or take a walk along the Wompoo Circuit to Peregrine Lookout at Mapleton & discover magical views across the Obi Obi Valley & Mapleton Falls. If you are short of time, you can visit Buderim Forest Park which also has a pleasant short, bushwalk to a bridge overlooking a picturesque waterfall.

Beach & deep sea fishing along the coast of Caloundra, Sunshine Coast

Along the beaches of Caloundra & following the Pumicestone Passage & jettys dotted all the way around to Golden Beach, you’ll find many spots to throw a line in. Even off the deck right at Bulcock Beach! You can hire a boat or fish from the river’s edge with bream, whiting & flathead being the main catch. Fish that can be found in the local waters around Caloundra include Bream, Dart, Flathead, Kingfish, Mackerel, Parrot Fish, Pearl Perch, Red Emperor, Snapper, Sweet Lip, Tailor & Whiting Tailor, Mullet, Mangrove Jack & Black Bream are caught during the winter months & Jew Fish can be found around the Cod Hole. Fishing tackle, lots of local advice plus live, fresh & frozen bait are available right in Caloundra CBD. If you’re a bit more adventurous & looking for the ‘big one’, book in advance for deep sea fishing & spend a day on the ocean with fishing charters, specialising in offshore reef & game fishing which depart from Mooloolaba Wharf. One of the newest attractions on the Sunshine Coast, the HMAS Brisbane is the jewel in the crown for scuba divers. Since its sinking in July 2005, this freshly formed artificial reef has quickly attracted such a diversity of marine life & coral that it has already become an underwater paradise. You can dive all year round, with the water temperature at a comfortable 19C to 26C & 5 to 30m visibility, with 12-15m on average. Divers can explore the 133 metre, former warship through large access holes that allow passage into the forward engine room, boiler room, & the ship’s interior including sleeping quarters used by the crew during the ship’s service from 1967 to 2001. Named by Captain Cook in 1770, the Glass House Mountains are volcanic peaks that rise dramatically from the Sunshine Coast landscape. Enjoy scenic drives & spectacular coastal views from the lookouts, climb a mountain or stop for a picnic & go for a bushwalk along one of the many tranquil forest trails. From Steve Irwin Way, follow the signs to visit the lovely little towns nearby. Stop & explore all along the way. Visit Beerburrum, Glasshouse, Beerwah, Landsborough & Mooloolah. Ask for directions to the Cobb & Co Hall of Fame to see lovingly restored historic Cobb & Co coaches & don’t miss the Landsborough Historic Museum & the exciting children’s playground nearby.
